The study aims to explore the factors that influence this particular group of immigrants and their inclusion in Norwegian society. We focus our attention both on the women’s own perceptions of what inclusion means to them, and on what role their husbands, network and different institutions have played in the process of integration. The stories and the experiences of these women will form the base for a more general discussion of barriers and bridges in their process of becoming a part of Norwegian working-life and their local community. We will also conduct interviews with a selection of Norwegian spouses, to learn more about their experiences as “facilitators” for their wives. The interviews with the women are clustered in three municipalities, and the visits to these municipalities also include interviews with language teachers and a selection of other key-informants.
